Summary

You will be part of our physiotherapy provision within the college, carrying out physiotherapy sessions with students and supporting college staff to manage the physical needs of students across the academic and residential services. The role is for a Physiotherapist with at least one year’s post qualification experience to work as part of our Healthcare provision at QAC. Neurological experience is desirable.

You will work as part of a small team of four Physiotherapists and three Physio Assistants.

£27,7721.29 - £34,167.28

Starting salary subject to skills and experience

Hours:
Mon - Fri working pattern.
41 weeks per year (term time and an additional 2 weeks over the summer break).

Duties and Key Areas of Responsibility

Assess the physiotherapy needs of identified students’ referred for a place at QAC.
Complete, implement and review physiotherapy treatment programmes for students.
Work closely with staff in academic, healthcare, mobility and residential services to ensure the provision of safe, holistic care to students.
Have an awareness / experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities / difficulties, autism, physical disabilities, mental health needs and visual impairment.
Ensure that a high standard of physiotherapy service is provided, adhering to quality measures and expected outputs.
Maintain up to date records of student progress and write reports for reviews and outside agencies as required.
Liaise with parents/carers and other health professionals as required.
Ensure that all equipment used is in good order and practice in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation and policies.
Support senior staff to produce a physiotherapy timetable for students.
Provide support and guidance to the Physiotherapy Assistants and delegate care appropriate to their skill set.
Instruct students and their support staff in an active approach to gaining and maintaining personal independence. This requires empathy, sensitivity and good interpersonal skills.
Use effective communication tools, verbal and non-verbal to communicate treatment programmes to students who may have barriers to understanding or communicating, e.g. blind, deaf, dysphasic or who have limited English.
Ability to carry out assessment and treatment with moderate to intense physical effort on a daily basis.
The post holder will respect confidentiality at all times.
To deliver in-house training as required.
Contribute to development of student care by attending relevant team, departmental or other appropriate meetings and relay information to relevant others regarding the recommended changes to clinical care or service provision.
Have the ability to work effectively under pressure and with limited supervision.
Demonstrate a good understanding of equality and diversity and encourage students to be involved in their care, respecting their physical, emotional and social needs.
Work in a professional manner, honouring the CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy) Code of Conduct and keeping up to date with professional developments within your range of practice and beyond.
Perform such other duties consistent with the nature of the post as may be required from time to time.
