Full-Time | Permanent

Engineer the Reliability Behind Critical Industries

We're partnering with a market-leading textiles manufacturer supplying into highly regulated and safety-critical sectors including defence, aerospace, and pharmaceuticals.
This is not just another maintenance role, this is an opportunity to take full ownership of site engineering across specialist manufacturing operations, ensuring machinery, plant services and facilities operate safely, efficiently and without disruption.
Due to the nature of the environment, experience working within a chemical, coatings, laboratory or process-driven engineering setting is essential.

The Opportunity

As Group Maintenance Engineer, you'll be the go-to technical expert on site. This is a hands-on, autonomous role where you'll lead preventative maintenance strategy, respond to breakdowns, and coordinate contractors, without direct line management responsibilities.
You'll play a key role in protecting uptime across a business that supports some of the world's most demanding industries.

Responsibilities:
* Delivering and managing PPM schedules across manufacturing equipment and site services
* Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime
* Maintaining critical site services (HVAC, compressed air, lighting, building fabric, etc.)
* Overseeing statutory inspections and ensuring full compliance
* Managing and supervising external contractors, enforcing safe systems of work
* Tracking maintenance spend and identifying efficiency and continuous improvement opportunities
* Providing occasional engineering support to a nearby sister site

Experience:
* Proven hands-on maintenance experience within a manufacturing or industrial setting

Essential: Experience working in a chemical, laboratory, coatings, or process-based engineering environment
* Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding capability
* Experience planning and executing PPM strategies
* Confident coordinating contractors and maintaining H&S standards
* Comfortable working independently and taking full ownership of site engineering

Desirable:
* Background in textiles, coatings, or laminating
* Experience managing statutory inspections
* Lean / Continuous Improvement exposure
* IOSH qualification

Benefits

4-day working week (every Friday off)
Autonomous role with real ownership
Stable, growing manufacturing business
Supporting globally critical industries

If you're a practical, self-sufficient engineer who thrives in specialist manufacturing environments and enjoys taking full responsibility for site reliability. I would love to speak with you!

Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age.
