Summary
Be accountable for own actions or omissions and understanding role, boundaries and limitations.Have understanding of Units policies, protocol and procedures. The post holder would be expected to report to a qualified practitioner any deviation in a babys condition. To communicate effectively and professionally with the multi-disciplinary team. To have an understanding of sensitive information, for example, safeguarding issues and to understand the importance of information governance. To contribute and advise parents and carers in relation to parenting skills and health promotion, for example, environmental temperature and positioning babies in relation to cot death prevention, infection prevention, breast and bottle feeding advice.Deal with general enquiries using initiative and judgment on whether immediate independent action should be taken or whether referral to a senior staff is required.The post holder will be expected to effectively document any neonatal care they have given to include computerized systems.The post holder will be expected to act on own initiative in planning, delivering and evaluating care to a defined caseload of babies within the neonatal unit.The post holder may care for up to 4 babies who may be oxygen dependent, have congenital abnormalities and require gastric tube feeding.
