Summary

To be responsible for the site, ensuring that the buildings and grounds are safe, secure, clean and well-maintained, providing a welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors. The site supervisor will carry out minor repairs, oversee contractors and ensure that health and safety regulations are met.
• Responsible for the safe custody of the premises
• Responsible for the cleanliness, efficient lighting and heating of the premise

Daily Responsibilities
• During term time to open the school in the morning and check the site is safe for the day, locking up in the evening and leaving it secure for the night.
• Monitoring the condition of the building and fittings and report any faults or concerns promptly.
• Ensure the paths are clear of leaves to ensure safe access.
Toilets
• Toilet floors to be swept and mopped with germicidal agent daily. Should an incident occur and the floor become soiled during the day, the caretaker is required to clean this area again.
• WC Bowls and toilet seats are to be cleaned and disinfected every day
• Paper towels, toilet roll and soap should be replenished daily or as required.
Glass
• The caretaker is required to clean internal class except where the glass extends beyond 11 feet in height.
Heating and Lighting
• The site supervisor is required to ensure that the heating apparatus is efficiently and economically operated.
• Lighting systems must be tested weekly.
• Any faults, leaks, emergencies must be directly reported to the School Business Officer.

Fire Alarms and Extinguishers/Fire Escapes
• To be tested/checked weekly and findings recorded accordingly.

Meter Readings
• Meters to be read and recorded monthly on specific sheets for monitoring and input by the School Business Manager
Legionella
• To make regular (6 weekly) checks in accordance with regulations and to record findings accordingly.
Internal work
• Sweeping and mopping the hall floor when required
• Re-decoration as requested
• Minor repairs and odd jobs when requested
• Steam clean carpets termly or when requested
• Prepare and maintain wooden floors
• Clean interior and exterior glass
• Order equipment and materials as required

External Work
• The site supervisor is to inspect the school playgrounds, car parks, play areas and field on a daily basis. Areas are to be cleared of any litter or substances daily and swept where required.
• Gullies, drains, drain-grids and air gates must be kept clean and litter free. Before/after a fall of snow, paths are to be cleared/gritted along pupil routes in the vicinity of the school building, wherever practical, before schools starts. In cases of icy conditions, grit sand to be applied to affected areas ensuring optimum underfoot safety to pupils, parents, staff or visitors to the school.
• Windowsills require to be wiped/washed down as necessary.
• Clearing debris and leaves and gardening when required.
Deliveries
The site supervisor will be required to take in/distribute deliveries to the school as directed by the Schools Business Officer.
Extra Payments for Emergency situations/Alarm call outs -
Where the site supervisor is required to return to the place of employment outside normal hours to deal with an emergency situation, payment will be made at overtime rate for a minimum period of one hour from the time of leaving home.
