Summary
IMPORTANT
This role requires hands‑on experience with metal Additive Manufacturing production using EOS or ARCAM systems. Candidates without direct metal AM machine experience will not be considered.
About Metron Advanced Equipment
Metron Advanced Equipment is recognised internationally for pioneering work in metal Additive Manufacturing. We produce high performance titanium and Scalmalloy components for elite cycling, motorsport, medical and aerospace customers, using both Laser Powder Bed Fusion and Electron Beam Melting technologies.
We are expanding our AM production capability and are seeking an experienced AM specialist to take technical ownership of our metal AM operations.
The Role
This is a senior, hands on engineering role focused on end to end AM production: build preparation, machine operation, process optimisation, quality control and continuous improvement. You will ensure repeatable, high quality output across our EOS and ARCAM platforms, drive improvements in productivity and part performance, and take responsibility for routine machine maintenance to keep production reliable. The role requires strong technical judgement, practical problem solving and the ability to work independently within a small, high performance team.
Key Responsibilities
AM Production & Process Control
• Lead day to day operation of metal AM systems (Laser & EBM)
• Prepare builds, optimise support strategies and validate build files
• Monitor machine performance, resolve faults and ensure process stability
• Develop and refine AM parameters to improve quality and throughput
• Carry out routine and preventive maintenance to keep equipment running reliably
Quality & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with AS9100 and internal quality standards
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
• Review inspection data and drive continuous improvement
• Maintain documentation, traceability and production records
Post Processing & Workflow
• Oversee powder handling, sieving and material traceability
• Support post processing steps including heat treatment, machining and finishing
• Collaborate with design engineers to optimise parts for AM
Technical Leadership
• Provide AM expertise across the business
• Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians on DfAM
• Contribute to customer discussions and technical reviews
• Identify opportunities for process innovation and capability expansion
Essential Requirements
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in metal Additive Manufacturing
• Hands on experience with EOS, ARCAM or similar
• Strong understanding of AM process parameters, build strategies and defect mechanisms
• Experience in high‑precision manufacturing or advanced engineering environments
• Solid understanding of AS9100 or similar quality frameworks
• Strong build preparation capability (Magics or equivalent)
• Practical, hands on approach with excellent problem solving skills
• Full right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
Desirable Experience:
• Experience optimising parameters or developing new AM workflows
• Knowledge of titanium and aluminium alloy behaviour in AM
• Experience with heat treatment, machining or finishing of AM parts
• Background in process development or R&D within AM
Why Join Metron?
• Work directly with advanced metal AM technologies (Laser & EBM)
• Take ownership of production processes in a high performance environment
• Influence technical direction and process development
• Contribute to world class projects in aerospace, medical, motorsport and elite cycling
• Be part of a small, innovative team where your expertise has real impact
