Due to investment into the Acute Oncology services, we have an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Care Practitioner post, to join the Acute Oncology Nursing Team based at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.

This post will work closely with acute medicine, other emergency specialities, diagnostics in NSECH, along with all the Oncology Day units & Consultant Oncologists in delivering the highest level of care. The postholder will work at an advanced practice at Master’s level in the 4 pillars in the speciality of acute oncology. This post will support and deliver of a nurse led service through advanced clinical care, service development, quality improvement initiatives through senior leadership and education in the acute oncology speciality .

This post will work with the oncology, haematology, cancer clinical/MDT teams, senior Business unit team on supporting the delivery of the non-surgical oncology agenda and the new NHS Cancer plan.

The post holder must have advanced knowledge /experience in managing Acute oncology delivery, managing SACT toxicities for this patient group .

The post holder will expect to be flexible and link across all units as required.

The successful candidate will have:
• Advanced knowledge and experience in Acute Oncology Managemnt and Systemic Anti‑Cancer Therapy (SACT)
• Demonstrable expertise in Acute Oncology management
• Strong autonomous clinical assessment and decision‑making skills for managing this complex patient group
• Work within the multidisciplinary teams and contributing to service development
• Proven leadership within the acute oncology speciality, with a track record of driving improvements in patient care and service delivery
• Skilled in quality improvement, audit and research within the acute oncology speciality.

The postholder will be working at Master’s level across the four pillars of advanced practice, the post holder will contribute to:

• Expert clinical practice in the assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of acute oncology patients

• Leadership within the acute oncology speciality, influencing service development, reducing variations and strategic planning

• Education and training, supporting colleagues across the teams

• Quality improvement and research, driving innovation and supporting delivery of the NHS Cancer Plan & the Non Surgical Oncology agenda.

The ACP will work collaboratively with acute oncology, acute teams , Haematology, Cancer Clinical/MDT teams, and the Senior Business Unit team to support the delivery of the non‑surgical oncology agenda and ensure safe, effective pathways for patients receiving acute oncology care.
