Summary

Paragon Education is currently recruiting experienced AP Teachers and Support Staff to work across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and the Tees Valley region (Durham & North Yorkshire), supporting Alternative Provision (AP) schools partnered with Multi-Service Providers (MSPs). If you are passionate about helping pupils who require specialised educational settings, we want to hear from you.

1:1 Support Staff

These roles involve supporting pupils who may have experienced exclusion, SEMH challenges, or barriers to mainstream education in AP schools, PRUs, and specialist settings.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver tailored support to pupils in classroom and small-group AP settings

Build positive relationships to encourage engagement, confidence, and learning

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and MSP staff

Implement behaviour management strategies and personalised learning plans

Support pupils in developing resilience, social skills, and independence

Experience & Qualifications Required

Experience working with children or young people in Alternative Provision, SEMH, or challenging behaviour contexts

Relevant qualification such as QTS (for teachers), Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent AP experience

Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

Knowledge of safeguarding and trauma-informed approaches

A patient, resilient, and proactive approach

Desirable Skills

Experience in PRUs, specialist AP schools, or mainstream schools with AP units

Training such as Team Teach, Positive Behaviour Support, or de-escalation techniques

Experience supporting pupils with ADHD, SEMH needs, or complex barriers to learning
