Collingwood Care Home is a newly commissioned specialist care home in Clapham, London supporting adults with complex nursing needs, dementia and mental health conditions. The home offers 80 en suite bedrooms across two floors and provides complex nursing care, specialist dementia care and residential mental health support within a safe and clinically led environment.

Kitchen Assistant

  • £12.71 per hour
  • Full time contract
  • Pension, Paid DBS, Uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave based on a full time contract

The Role
As Kitchen Assistant, you will support the kitchen team in preparing and delivering high quality meals for residents living with complex nursing needs, dementia and mental health conditions. You will assist with food preparation, maintain high standards of cleanliness and ensure the kitchen operates safely and efficiently.

Working closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team, you will help prepare ingredients, support meal service and ensure all kitchen areas, equipment and utensils are cleaned and maintained to food safety standards. You will assist with receiving and storing deliveries, stock rotation and maintaining organised storage areas.

Your role will also include supporting safe food handling practices, following cleaning procedures and ensuring health and safety standards are maintained at all times. By supporting the smooth running of the kitchen, you will contribute to a positive dining experience that supports residents’ wellbeing and quality of life.

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous experience working in a kitchen or food preparation role is desirable but not essential
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A reliable and positive approach to supporting a busy kitchen environment
