About the Role

This is a full-time English Teacher position starting ASAP for a passionate educator ready to make an immediate impact. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English Language and Literature lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. This role is not merely about following a curriculum. Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Solid understanding of current GCSE English Language and Literature assessment criteria.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

  • Critical Analysis: A deep ability to teach students how to deconstruct and interpret complex texts.
  • Interpersonal Sensitivity: Building rapport with students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Digital Literacy: Proficiency in using educational software and interactive whiteboards to enhance learning.
  • Time Management: Balancing the demands of marking, planning, and administrative duties effectively.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured English lessons that cater to a wide range of learner abilities.
  • Assess and record student progress using data-driven insights to inform future planning and interventions.
  • Implement the school's "Positive Discipline" policy to maintain a focused and respectful learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development of the English curriculum, sharing resources and innovative ideas with colleagues.
  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations through rigorous practice, feedback, and targeted support.
  • Foster a love for reading through the promotion of diverse texts and extracurricular literacy initiatives.
  • Liaise with parents and guardians through reports and parents' evenings to provide transparent feedback on progress.
  • Direct Teaching Assistants effectively within the classroom to support students with SEND or EAL requirements.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and whole-school CPD to stay at the forefront of pedagogical research.
  • Uphold the school's ethos, ensuring that the spiritual and moral development of students is woven into daily school life.
