About Us
Oxfordshire Registration Service is responsible for registering life events. The Ceremonies Team conduct marriage, civil partnership, celebratory and citizenship ceremonies in accordance with legislation and council policies. We offer a range of ceremonies; from a simple ceremony in the register office to personalised indoor or outdoor ceremonies at approved venues across Oxfordshire.
About the Role
We are seeking to appoint Ceremonies Officers to join our team. You will fulfil the statutory duties of a Deputy Registrar/ Deputy Superintendent Registrar and deal with all aspects of a ceremony from start to finish.This includes preparing the legal paperwork, liaising with the couple, writing and conducting the ceremony, registering the ceremony and returning the legal paperwork to an office. Ceremonies take place on weekdays, weekends and bank holidays. You will complete the preparatory work at home.You will mostly work at venues linked to your base office.You will also be required to travel to conduct ceremonies at the Oxford Register Office and other register offices in the county and at approved venues across Oxfordshire.
There are 5 positions available, 2 based at Didcot, 2 based at Bicester and 1 based at Abingdon. Please indicate in your application form which location you would like to be considered for. If you don't have a preference as to a base office please let us know in your application.
Assessment date: Wednesday 15th April with interviews from 17th April.
Training dates: 3rd and 4th June.
About you
You will be proficient in Microsoft Office and willing to learn our in-house computer systems. You will have excellent organisational skills. You will have experience of working within a customer focused service.You will be adaptable to meet the needs of diverse customers and provide a personalised service to people at a pivotal point in their lives. You will possess integrity, tact and diplomacy and enjoy working with the public. You will be able to work on your own and as part of a team. You will be an assured public speaker and have a smart professional appearance.You will need to travel across Oxfordshire and will need a full clean driving licence and use of a vehicle. We will provide you with a laptop for home working, access to your own home printer would be beneficial.
