LEEDS TEACHING HOSPITAL NHS TRUST JOB DESCRIPTION JOB DETAILS Job Title: Junior Clinical Fellows in Emergency Medicine Grade: Clinical Fellow (ST1-2 equivalent) Specialty/Department: Emergency Speciality Medicine Location: SJUH/LGI Start Date- May 26 & Aug 26 The Leeds Emergency Medicine Departments offer 12-month Clinical Fellowships designed to provide individually tailored experience and training for those who want to develop a special interest in specific areas of Emergency Medicine Fellowship posts are available from August 2026 onwards. We have been running a very successful programme with non- clinical roles already in ultrasound, research and quality improvement, ambulatory care medicine, post-graduate and undergraduate education, simulation and emergency care with elderly medicine. We have the following posts available from August 2026. The post holders will be working at 80/20 clinical to non-clinical split of total contracted time. There will be funding available for attending relevant external courses or Post graduation Certification. The posts are offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months in the first instance. The post holder must be registered with GMC and hold a license to practice. The post holder will be responsible for delivering care to patients within the Emergency Departments at the Leeds General Infirmary and St James University Hospital. The posts are adaptable to suit the level of experience of the candidate - Candidates must have a minimum of 4 months Emergency Medicine or Acute Medicine Experience. The post will help the doctor develop skills in areas of education/ Simulation/ AI/Ultrasound. There will be an expectation the post holder will support other educational and QI activity in the department. There are 50 consultants in the Emergency Department with a wide range of clinical, educational, and managerial interests. Experience Previous experience in Emergency Medicine in desirable DUTIES OF THE POST Fellow Posts The individual will work a full shift pattern, working ~36 clinical hours per week. There will be on average 9 hours per week of non-clinical time to enable an individual to pursue a special interest in for example undergraduate education, quality improvement, guideline development, and research. LEVELS OF RESPONSIBILITY The candidate will be expected the knowledge, skills and attitude to work at the level of a ST1-2 doctor. TEACHING AND RESEARCH/STUDY AND TRAINING All the posts will include a commitment to teaching. These documents are available on the Medical Staffing Intranet site. The post holder is required to be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and hold a licence to practice. Standards of Conduct and Behaviour You are required to work to the standards set out by the General Medical Council in Good Medical Practice. This includes protecting patients when you believe that a doctors or other colleagues conduct, performance or health is a threat to them. If, after establishing the facts, it is necessary, you must follow the Trusts procedures in this matter and inform your Clinical Director or Medical Director in the first instance. The Trust has a set of expected behaviours for all employees and additional behaviours and skills that are expected of managers and supervisors. Leave Arrangements All leave should be applied for in accordance with the Trusts Leave Policy, normally giving six weeks notice of any leave, other than in exceptional circumstances. Training The jobholder must take responsibility in agreement with his/her line manager for his/her own personal development by ensuring that Continuous Professional Development remains a priority. The jobholder will undertake all mandatory training required for the role. We have provided support for individuals to obtain post graduate qualifications in education, attendance at life support conferences or other relevant training in Emergency Medicine.
