Summary
To deliver a wide variety of occupational therapy assessment and interventions, working with children and their families. This may include working with children both in clinic, hospital and community settings who have a range of complex needs, e.g.: - Neuro disability - Developmental coordination disorder - Learning difficulties - Palliative/end-of-life conditions - Impaired perception and communication skills, e.g. cerebral palsy, learning disability To work with children and young people from birth to 19 years old. Assess and treat own caseload of patients and maintain own records as an autonomous practitioner To work with parents, care givers, education and nursery staff to provide appropriate occupational therapy interventions To work with multi professional colleagues to provide joined up and co ordinated care to children and young people. The post-holder is supervised on a regular basis by senior members of the Childrens Occupational Therapy Team. The supervision takes the form of monitoring practice through direct observation and one-to-one meetings (at least weekly initially but often daily), readily available advice and support, reviewing ability to manage workload and of coping ability, case note review, working alongside in a training/coaching role To assist seniors with contributing to education, training and service development projects within the field of work To assist evaluation of the occupational therapy service provided within the specialism
