Summary

Your new company
Hays are delighted to be partnering with a specialist organisation within the construction sector, who are experiencing sustained growth and now require a Buyer to join their team at their Belfast headquarters. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity within a project‑driven environment where no two days are the same.

Your new role

  • As Buyer, you will play a key part in supporting the successful delivery of design‑to‑order projects. You will work closely with internal teams to plan upcoming procurement needs, source materials in line with detailed specifications, and ensure goods are delivered on time, to the required quality standards, and within agreed budgets.
  • You will be responsible for raising purchase orders, maintaining accurate supplier documentation, and managing daily communication with the operations team to flag potential delays or supply chain issues. You will monitor order progress, update any cost or scope changes, and keep project stakeholders informed.
  • A key aspect of the role involves evaluating supplier performance, nurturing strong supplier relationships, and resolving any discrepancies around pricing, quality, delivery, or invoices. Alongside this, you will provide cost analysis, identify opportunities for savings, and support the estimating and commercial teams with pricing queries and tender requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 4+ years' experience working within a procurement function, ideally gained within construction, manufacturing, or another project‑based environment
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Previous experience working with an ERP system
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and juggle multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident problem‑solver with a proactive approach
  • Comfortable suggesting and implementing process improvements
  • Ability to build strong internal and external working relationships

What you'll get in return

  • Company pension
  • On‑site parking
  • Opportunity to join an expanding business with long‑term career potential
