A friendly, independent lady is looking for a positive, practical Personal Assistant. This is not a care role and no specialist experience is required - the focus is on practical help, companionship, and building confidence.

The overall goal: to help set up simple systems and routines that, over time, make it easy to manage everything and venture out independently.

The role covers three main areas:
- Organisation & Life Skills: Helping simplify and organise everyday life - from planning the week, sorting paperwork and accounts (bills), to learning a useful skill such as putting up a shelf. The aim is to cut through the overwhelm, put practical systems in place, and build habits that are easy to carry forward long-term.

- Getting Out & About: Accompanying to local courses, groups, or clubs - typically just once or twice for each one - to provide a friendly, reassuring presence until it feels comfortable to go alone.

- Monthly Day Out: Once a month, heading out for the day together somewhere enjoyable, to explore, have fun, and build confidence being out and about independently.

Who we're looking for:
- Practical, organised, and patient - someone who's good at setting things up and explaining them clearly
- Cheerful, encouraging, and genuinely enjoys spending time with people
- Takes the initiative and provides positive motivation, always with an eye on the end goal of enabling lasting independence
- Respectful of independence - your job is to help enable someone do things for themselves, not do things for them
- Comfortable with a flexible role that evolves over time

This is a rewarding role for someone who gets satisfaction from helping another person feel more capable and connected. No care or mental health experience needed - just a positive, can-do attitude.
-
Duties include:
- Other relevant duties as required
- Companionship
- To accompany and support me when accessing the community and activities that I enjoy e.g. swimming, pottery, arts and crafts.
- To help me find and access new activities, if they take my interest and meaningful activities, such as voluntary opportunities

Candidate qualities:
- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
- Hygienic, tidy and well organised
- Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
- Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Honest and cheerful
- Creative
- Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives.
