Summary

​EQUANS is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Hatfield on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday. The position offers a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus, and benefits package. To take responsibility, ownership and accountability of the successful management and control all aspects of the commercial, financial and contractual elements of the designated project in order to control and maximise the company’s profitability, protect the companies legal and contractual obligations under the contract and to manage proactively the control of all commercial issues. This is to include ensuring applications and valuations are completed in line with the contract terms and also ensuring sub-contractors receive prompt payment and are procured in line with our contractual obligations and Commitments to Subcontractors. In addition, ensuring cost reports and the like are managed, completed on time and monitored. What will you deliver? To maintain commercial administration and management on a number of live projects or projects at pre-construction phase;Management and control of sub-contract accounts, variation accounts, procurement and commercial management on a designated project(s)Post-tender internal and external pricing analysis/assessment for sign-off whilst ensuring within budgetConduct contract risk and opportunity assessment to identify these areas and plan for them accordingly to ensure pricing remains on budget without undermining Health and Safety.Develop an understanding of the designated contract, specification and pricing ensuring compliance with conditions throughoutMeasure progress, submit valuations, submit final accounts and retention release, process subcontractor requests for payment and monitor receipt of payment in a timely manner.Completing a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for the designation project(s)To manage the day to day cost control, monitoring and reporting on a designated project(s) ensuring timely cash flow management for the Client and the group, and the supply chainComplete QS documentation (i.e. client invoices) within deadlines ahead of MQS approval to ensure the business doesn’t occur any late paymentsAssist the Estimating team with pre-tender due diligence to ensure consistent commercial goals, assist with estimates and negotiations for future projects or phases.Attend project and company related meetingsEnsure the company is neither compromise nor disadvantaged by a contractual or financial arrangementManage the costs on a project to ensure both the company and the client is fully advised of the cost situationSufficiently manage the financial aspects of the project to ensure the correct safety equipment is used at all timesProcess subcontractor requests for payment and issue of notices in line with the HGCRA Ensure the Company is neither compromised nor disadvantaged by a contractual or financial arrangementWork with the Contracts Manager to track critical path delay analysis and assess financial impacts for potential claimsAttend internal and external project and Company related meetings as appropriateTo take an overview and interest to assist the Contract Manager with;pre-start planning and programmingsubcontractor selection and ensure the chosen subcontractor has the appropriate order and information to carry out their workassist with contractual issues and take action as requiredAssisting and liaising with the buying team on material procurement and buying opportunitiesWhere appropriate, assist with estimates and negotiations for future projects or phasesProvide assistance to the finance, accounts, and estimating teams as necessary.General day to day administrative dutiesPrepared to travel to and from site and/or head offices within various geographical areasTo liaise with all staff, clients, consultants and residents in a professional manner, maintaining and developing professional relationships with the Client to help future business developmentAssist in ensuring the Company is in line with Health & Safety procedures, to protect your safety and others around youAny other reasonable management request What can we offer you? Skills and abilitiesTechnically knowledgeable of general regeneration and new build construction methods and how they are implemented including modern methods of construction, steel frame, concentre frame, JCT, NEC, PPC, etc Experience with excellent influencing and negotiation skills with the supply chain and/or external clients to ensure the business maximises profit throughout contract schemesExcellent verbal communication skillsGood level of numeracyGood influencing skillsIT skills – MS Office, Excel, Project, Word etcFull driving license ExperienceExperience with JCT suite of contracts in a main contractor background (desirable for new build roles)Desirable to have a clear understanding of H&S – SMSTS or SSSTS preferred or willing to work towards gaining certificationMinimum of 2 years of professional experience in a surveying role, reporting to a senior surveyor or commercial manager (or equivalent supervisory position).
