Summary

Core Responsibilities & Key Expectations Building Relationships & Personalised Care Proactively engage with women and their families to build positive relationships based on respect, empathy, and sensitivity . Provide high-quality, personalised care in line with local and national standards . Support the transition to parenthood , offering guidance and reassurance. Consent & Communication Gain valid consent before providing care and document it clearly and promptly. Recognise and report changes in mother or babys condition , including concerns raised by women or families, to the midwife in charge. Communicate effectively with the clinical team , promoting well-being and positive outcomes for mothers and babies. Clinical Practice & Safety Ensure clinical practice is safe and appropriate at all times , performing relevant clinical skills and acting within your competence. Maintain a safe, clean, and productive care environment , adhering to hygiene and infection control standards. Manage and prioritise your workload , responding appropriately to urgent or emergency situations . Professional Development & Supervision Participate in regular supervision and appraisals, actively pursuing learning and development opportunities . Maintain core and specific competencies as outlined in the HCA Development Pathway . Take personal responsibility for completing mandatory training . Team Support & Mentoring Act as a role model for new staff , providing support, coaching, and mentoring as needed. Foster a supportive environment by assisting in the training and development of colleagues . Safeguarding & Confidentiality Be aware of safeguarding issues and report concerns immediately. Maintain strict confidentiality , adhering to the Data Protection Act, information governance, and Caldicott Principles. Health, Safety & Risk Management Ensure a tidy and safe environment by cleaning equipment, reporting faults, and adhering to health and safety policies. Report incidents, accidents, or risks promptly . Promoting Equality & Diversity Foster equality, diversity, and rights by addressing and reporting discriminatory behavior. Actively promote inclusivity and respect for all individuals . Service Development & Improvement Contribute to service development by participating in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
