Summary
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a Welsh Language Translation Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £15.85 - £20.69 per hour
Summary:
The Welsh Language Translation Officer will provide advice and guidance to staff, Members and stakeholders, deliver translation and proofreading services, and promote the use of the Welsh language across the organisation and local communities. The role will also contribute to policy development, cultural change, and the delivery of the Councils Welsh Language Strategy.
Responsibilities
Provide translation and proofreading services for Council documents.
Deliver verbal translation services as required.
Support the implementation and monitoring of the Welsh Language Standards.
Assist in managing Welsh-medium files, project records, and correspondence.
Provide guidance to Officers on producing bilingual documents in line with Welsh Language Standards.
Maintain and update the Councils Welsh Language website and social media channels with bilingual content.
Qualification:
A relevant degree or equivalent qualification/experience
Essentials:
Strong knowledge of Welsh language and Equalities legislation, including the Welsh Language (Wales)
Proven experience providing Welsh language translation services.
Experience of stakeholder engagement and partnership working.
Fluent communication skills in Welsh and English (written and verbal).
Ability to present and communicate ideas effectively to diverse audiences.
