Permanent | Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary Up To £30,000 per year

Our schools are safe, inspiring environments where every child is encouraged to thrive and as our Site Caretaker, youll play a key part in making that possible.
What the Role Involves
Working primarily at Summergil School, with scheduled travel to Ty Bronllys, youll take responsibility for the smooth running, safety, and upkeep of our sites. Your days will be varied, hands‑on, and central to ensuring our pupils and staff have a safe and welcoming place to learn and live.
Your work will include daily repairs, general maintenance, and essential health and safety checks across buildings, grounds, and equipment. Youll carry out weekly inspections of heating, lighting, and alarm systems, support cleaning tasks when needed, and complete routine swimming pool checks.
Youll also take pride in the appearance of our grounds from gardening and landscaping to painting, decorating, and general site upkeep. Managing tools, materials, and furniture stock will be part of your routine, as will ensuring the security of the site through daily opening and closing, regular security checks, and coordination of school traffic.
The role also involves supporting our fleet of vehicles with basic checks and cleaning, and working closely with external contractors and estates teams, including completing site inductions and chaperoning when required.
What You Bring
Were looking for someone practical, reliable, and confident in a busy school environment. Youll ideally have GCSEs/NVQs/SVQs or similar, and while qualifications in construction, engineering, or IOSH are desirable, theyre not essential we value a willingness to learn just as highly.
You should be comfortable carrying out minor repairs, maintaining small equipment, and communicating clearly with colleagues, pupils, and visitors. Strong organisational skills, the ability to work independently, and a calm approach under pressure are all important. A working knowledge of health and safety is helpful, but training can be provided. Youll also need to be able to travel between sites using school vehicles.
