Summary

Job Title: Junior data and analytics analyst

The role:
This is a great opportunity to work in a respected team on a successful portfolio of data products for the UK education sector.

You will help to deliver our product strategies by contributing to a subset of our products focusing on 'Tailored datasets', ‘Tailored datasets App’ and 'Consultancy'. You'll develop your knowledge of the data and education landscape and the skills that underpin our broader portfolio of products and services.

This role provides the building blocks needed to progress to our next level ‘Data and analytics analyst’ position.

What you’ll be doing:
• Providing custom data extracts through manipulation and linking, primarily using SQL and Python with source and version control.
• Undertaking Data analysis and quality assurance (with source control).
• Creating statistically valid, user-friendly data reports using analytical tools.
• Learning and practicing methods for managing data across all parts of the development process, for example Extract, Transform Load (ETL) techniques to prepare data for use within data analytics products.
• Creating project documentation, document code and user support materials to agreed standards.
• Resolving queries and issues raised by internal and external customers, escalating as appropriate in order to ensure an effective response is delivered.
• Working closely with the Data and analytics analysts, Data and analytics developers, Senior data and analytics developers, and the Consultant team (who negotiate the Tailored datasets customer orders), to understand and deliver product vision, contribute to backlogs and deliver sprint goals.

What we are looking for:
• Proven experience working with data to a high degree of accuracy, QA and subsequent error resolution.
• Experience querying databases in SQL.
• Experience in transforming data.
• Highly competent in SharePoint and Excel, with an excellent level of numeracy and flair for data and analysis
• Excellent communication including presentations, methodical and accurate working processes with a high level of attention to detail, taking responsibility for prioritising a busy workload in order to meet contractual deadlines, demonstrating a competent level of project management
• Competent in SQL and familiar with GIT.
• Effective at data storytelling; present and explain insights derived from data.
