Summary

Service Engineer (Mobile) - Berkshire

Location: Mobile role covering Reading, Heathrow & London
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Type: Permanent

About the Role

We're seeking a skilled Service Engineer to support energy and plant operations across multiple customer sites. This is a field‑based position focused on maintaining, diagnosing, and optimising Combined Heat & Power (CHP) systems and associated equipment.

The role offers strong autonomy, daily variety, and the chance to work with advanced mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring critical plant performance and exceptional service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on CHP systems across client sites.
  • Operate and maintain CHP plant safely and efficiently in line with contractual KPIs.
  • Use computer‑based diagnostic tools to fault‑find across multiple plant components.
  • Provide high‑quality customer service and maintain strong on‑site client relationships.
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively with the wider engineering team.
  • Participate in weekend rota duties as required.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum ONC or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical engineering background.
  • Experience working with CHP systems, heat exchangers or power generation plant.
  • Confident with electrical fault‑finding and rectification.
  • Knowledge of CHP controls, PLCs, and fuel‑mapping procedures (e.g., MTU, MAN, 2G units) is highly desirable.
  • Gas Safe qualification is an advantage (training available if needed).
  • Full UK driving licence required.
  • Background in engine maintenance or power systems is beneficial.
