About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well‑established precision manufacturing environment. You will play a key part in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient running of production equipment, CNC machinery, and general site infrastructure.
The role is a newly created position, offering the successful candidate the freedom to influence maintenance structure, processes, and improvements from day one. You'll be responsible for both proactive and reactive maintenance, supporting continuous production and high‑accuracy manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a range of manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum.
- Carry out corrective repairs, component replacements, and adjustments to maintain precision and repeatability.
- Monitor machine performance and breakdown trends, recommending reliability improvements.
- Support upgrade projects, process enhancements, and tooling improvements.
- Identify root causes of recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, including service logs and calibration records.
- Ensure maintenance activities support ISO standards and audit requirements.
- Manage on‑site contractors, ensuring RAMS and compliance procedures are followed.
- Oversee installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Conduct weekly fire alarm checks and contribute to site‑wide safety practices.
- Act as primary contact for external maintenance support when needed.
- Promote a proactive, safe, and organised working culture.
Experience & Skills Required
- Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer within precision engineering, machining, or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills, including the ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
- Experience with CNC machinery (any controls considered; exposure to Heidenhain or Fanuc advantageous).
- Capable of working independently in a standalone role or as part of a team.
- Competent in TPM, lean, or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced SME manufacturing setting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
