The Role – SEN Teacher (KS4 Complex Needs)
This is a full-time, permanent position teaching Key Stage 4 students with complex needs in a specialist SEN setting.
You will:
• Plan and deliver tailored, highly differentiated lessons for KS4 pupils with complex learning needs
• Teach students with Autism (ASC), communication needs, SEMH, and MLD
• Adapt curriculum content to meet individual EHCP targets
• Use structured, autism-informed behaviour management strategies
• Work collaboratively with SENCOs, therapists, and support staff
• Monitor, assess, and report on student progress
• Create a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
Strong experience managing children and young people with Autism is essential for this role.
Person Specification
Essential:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE
• Experience teaching KS4 students
• Proven experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASC) and complex needs
• Strong understanding of differentiation and EHCP processes
• Confident behaviour management within SEN settings
Desirable:
• Experience in specialist SEN or complex needs provisions
• Knowledge of autism-specific strategies (visual timetables, structured teaching approaches, sensory support)
• Experience preparing KS4 pupils for functional skills, life skills, or alternative accreditation pathways
