Safeguarding Requirement (Essential)
YOU MUST HAVE A DBS WITH CHILDREN'S BARRED LIST CHECK.
* All staff **must bring their DBS certificate** to every shift.
* You may be required to present your DBS certificate on arrival.
This role is based within an educational setting and safeguarding standards are strictly enforced.
Role Overview
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Cleaner to maintain high standards of cleanliness within a school environment. You will work independently, with support from the Cleaning Supervisor, to ensure all designated areas meet the required service specification and cleaning schedule.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for cleaning allocated areas of the school site, which may vary over time, including:
Daily Duties
* Vacuuming hard and soft floors
* Spot cleaning spillages
* Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces
* Cleaning toilets, sanitary fittings and surrounds
* Emptying and sanitising bins
* Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork and doors
* Polishing door glass
* Straightening and polishing furniture
* Replenishing janitorial supplies (toilets, washrooms, etc.)
* Checking and closing windows
* Switching off lights after cleaning
Machinery & Equipment
* Operating cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and floor polishers
* Using cleaning materials as instructed by the Supervisor
* Maintaining cleaning tools and ensuring adequate stock levels
* Reporting defects or hazards immediately to the Supervisor/Site Manager
Periodic Cleaning
Annual deep clean of classrooms, staffrooms, kitchen areas, dining areas, food technology rooms and other frequently used spaces
Termly upkeep cleaning, including high- and low-level dusting across key school areas

* Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities within schools
This role may require undertaking additional duties as allocated by management from time to time.
