Summary

Be a key link across clinical teams, working closely with colleagues within and beyond the Imaging Department to ensure patients receive a consistently high quality service. Support patients with clarity and compassion, communicating complex instructions in a way they can understand. Youll adapt your approach to each individuals needs, including those who may be seriously unwell or facing distressing conditions. Deliver high precision imaging, safely positioning patients and equipment, adjusting exposure parameters, and producing diagnostic images of the highest standard. Shape and uphold clinical excellence, contributing to the development and review of departmental protocols. Youll take ownership of quality control within your area and act quickly to maintain agreed standards. Lead, support, and inspire others, supervising junior radiographers, assistant practitioners, radiography assistants, and students within your section. Play an active role in student development, organising teaching sessions, practical demonstrations, and supporting their ongoing learning. Youll also carry out appraisals for a small group of qualified staff. Champion outstanding patient care, ensuring every clinical duty is carried out to a high professional standard. Provide day to day leadership, including managing workflow (flow duties) within the X ray department to keep services running smoothly. Work to the highest standards of radiation protection, adhering to IRMER and promoting safe practice at all times. Drive service improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance patient experience, adapting working practices, and helping to develop and implement new policies within your area. Promote a collaborative, supportive team culture, ensuring everyone contributes to delivering a high quality service. Manage and prioritise your workload, validating requests and ensuring efficient use of resources within your scope of practice. Monitor and maintain quality assurance, ensuring compliance with QA programmes and taking action when standards fall short. Respond effectively to equipment issues, following procedures to minimise disruption and maintain safe service delivery. Stay current and curious, keeping up to date with developments in Radiology and actively engaging in CPD. Ensure incidents and complaints are handled appropriately, recording all issues and escalating those that require wider management. Lead and engage staff in student education across the Radiology Directorate, helping to build a strong learning culture. Contribute to out of hours service provision as part of the departmental rota. Engage proactively with the NENC Imaging Network, contributing to regional initiatives, sharing best practice, and supporting alignment with wider strategic goals.
