Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of designers, engineers and creative problem‑solvers? Do you want to teach in a forward‑thinking trust where Design, Technology and Engineering aretrulyvalued?
Join us at Catmose Collegewhere traditional craft meets cutting‑edge innovation, and where students are encouraged to experiment and bring ideas to life.
Why join us?
Our Art and Design Technology team is thriving, ambitious and at the forefront of the College’s curriculum. We champion hands‑on creativity as much as academic rigour, and students have access to outstanding enrichment opportunities, including:
• Engineering visits to an RAF base
• Participation in the Future Chef national competition
• Building and racing an electric vehicle in the Greenpower series
• Preparation and mentoring for the Arkwright Engineering Scholarship
Across Years 7-9, students work through four exciting units each year - spanning Product Design, Engineering, and Food and Nutrition, giving them a strong foundation before they specialise at Key Stage 4 and beyond. Uptake at GCSE and vocational levels is consistently strong, and for suitably qualified candidates there will be opportunities to teach A level at our partner school, Harington.
Our purpose-built spaces allow teachers to deliver exceptional learning experiences. Equipment includes:
• Centre lathes and milling machines
• Bag press and hot metal working areas
• Laser cutter & CNC router
• 3D printers and specialist engineering tools
• Two brand-new specialist DT rooms built as part of our recent expansion
Whether you are an early career teacher seeking expert mentoring, or an experienced practitioner ready for progression, you will find a supportive, collaborative team committed to excellence.
What the school offers its staff
• Supportive leadership and positive work–life balance
• Outstanding facilities and motivated students
• Extensive professional development, including a funded Master’s scheme
• Opportunities to teach A Level at Harington School
• Staff benefits: flexible working, staff laptop, gym access, free parking, Cycleshare scheme salary sacrifice, priority admission for children of staff to the College, holidays outside of the usual term-time pattern, including a two-week autumn break and an early summer.
We value inclusion and warmly welcome applications from candidates seeking flexible arrangements.
If you have any questions regarding the role, please contact Alice Beckwith who is the link Vice Principal for Art and Design Technology, she may be contacted via email:abeckwith@catmosecollege.com
