English Teacher | Long-Term Contract

Location: Torpoint / South East Cornwall (PL11 2NH)

Salary: £150 - £230 per day (M-Scale equivalent)

Terms: Full-Time, Long-Term Role (Term-Time Only)

The Opportunity

Are you looking for the stability of a consistent school setting without the immediate commitment of a permanent contract? Randstad Education is seeking an English Teacher for a high-performing secondary school in the PL11 area.

This is a long-term assignment starting ASAP and running through the full academic year. You will become a core member of the English faculty, enjoying a term-time-only schedule that protects your work-life balance while allowing you to build deep roots with your students.

Your Role & Impact

As a Long-Term English Teacher, you will have full classroom responsibility, ensuring continuity and high standards for KS3 and KS4 learners:

  • Consistent Learning: Deliver a structured English Language and Literature curriculum, ensuring no learning gaps during your tenure.

  • Exam Preparation: Provide critical support for Year 11 cohorts as they approach their GCSEs, focusing on analysis and creative writing.

  • Relationship Building: Use the "long-term" nature of the role to build the trust and rapport necessary to engage "hard-to-reach" learners.

  • Collaborative Planning: Work alongside the department head to adapt schemes of work that reflect the diverse needs of the Torpoint community.

Why Choose a Long-Term Role?
  • Term-Time Only: Enjoy all school holidays and half-terms, perfect for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

  • Weekly Pay: Competitive daily rates paid via PAYE, ensuring you receive exactly what you earn without hidden fees.

  • "Try Before You Buy": Experience the school's culture and community firsthand-many of our long-term roles lead to permanent offers for the right candidate.

  • Professional Continuity: Unlike daily supply, this role allows you to see the direct impact of your teaching as students progress over months of study.

Who We Are Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS: Required.

  • Commitment: Someone ready to "dive in" and treat the role with the same dedication as a permanent post.

  • Adaptability: The ability to pick up existing lesson plans and add your own creative flair to keep students engaged.
