Summary
SEMH Learning Support Coach - Resource Provision, Portchester (ASAP Start)
Location: Portchester Start Date: ASAP Pay: From £14p/h Contract: Supply - Potential Temp to Perm
Prospero Teaching are supporting a warm, nurturing resource provision in Portchester that works with secondary-aged students experiencing high anxiety and complex SEMH needs. They are seeking compassionate, resilient Learning Support Coaches who can start as soon as possible and make a meaningful difference from day one.
This role goes far beyond classroom support. You'll become a trusted, steady adult for young people who have difficulty in mainstream settings-helping them feel safe, understood, and capable of progress.
Who Thrives in This Role?
We've seen excellent success from people with backgrounds in:
- Psychology or counselling
- Youth work or mentoring
- Sports coaching
- Care or social work
- SEN/SEMH experience
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting students with high anxiety and SEMH needs
- Using trauma‑informed approaches to guide behaviour
- Building consistent, respectful relationships
- Encouraging emotional regulation, confidence, and engagement in learning
What We're Looking For
- A patient, empathetic, flexible approach
- Experience with SEMH, anxiety, or communication challenges (advantageous)
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
- A genuine commitment to helping students succeed-especially on difficult days
Requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
- References covering the last 24 months
