Are you passionate about preparing young people with SEND for adulthood, employment, and independence? Do you want to inspire confidence, ambition, and real-world skills in students aged 16–19? Maplewell Hall School is seeking a dedicated Post 16 HLTA to join our positive, supportive, and forward-thinking team. You’ll play a vital role in supporting our students (ages 16–19), many of whom have complex needs including autism spectrum condition, communication and interaction, and cognition and learning difficulties.
Main Purpose
As Post 16 HLTA (with responsibility for Enterprise), you will take strategic and operational responsibility for employability and vocational learning across our Post 16 provision, delivering sessions at both P16 Thorpe Hill and our satellite base at Coalville CAN (Memorial Square). You will design and deliver engaging, practical learning experiences that develop students’ confidence, independence, and readiness for employment, further education, and adult life.
A central part of this role is the delivery and coordination of the Young Enterprise programme, enabling students to experience enterprise, teamwork, problem-solving, and financial literacy through hands-on, real-life business activities.
Working closely with SLT, families, support staff, and external partners, you will ensure that employability learning is ambitious, inclusive, and tailored to meet a wide range of needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, deliver, and assess a high-quality employability and vocational curriculum for Post 16 students, both on-site and off-site.
• Lead and deliver the Young Enterprise programme, supporting students to develop enterprise skills such as teamwork, communication, budgeting, marketing, and decision-making.
• Track and celebrate student progress, preparing clear and meaningful reports for students, parents/carers, and senior leaders.
• Coordinate and lead support staff within Post 16 employability provision, providing guidance, mentoring, and support for professional development.
• Develop creative, accessible curriculum resources that meet diverse learning needs and promote engagement.
• Build strong partnerships with employers, training providers, colleges, and community organisations to enhance work-related learning opportunities.
• Candidates should be educated to GCSE level 4 or above (or equivalent) in maths and English
• Act as a key worker for individuals or groups of Post 16 students, supporting independence, personal development, and preparation for adulthood.
• Contribute to EHCP outcomes, annual reviews, and transition planning.
• Promote high expectations, inclusion, safeguarding, and student wellbeing at all times.
• Play an active role in CPD, staff training, and the ongoing strategic development of Post 16 provision.
• Contribute to policy development and the strategic direction of Post 16 provision as part of the wider school/college team.
• Undertake other duties as reasonably required by the SLT to support the effective running of the Post 16 department.

• Share safeguarding concerns immediately with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
