Summary

The Role

Working on the back shift, you will oversee all in‑loading and out‑loading activities, ensuring health and safety, operational standards, and performance targets are consistently met. You will provide strong leadership and guidance to the distribution team while driving a comprehensive continuous‑improvement programme across the operation, focusing on both process efficiency and team development.

Other responsibilities include:

Plan, coordinate and monitor orders, assembly and dispatch of all our produce.
Make use of space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently.
Ensure quality performance, customer compliance and budget targets are met.
Liaise closely with the planning and production teams ensuring information flows both ways and is effective.
Ensure distribution areas consistently meet all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements to protect employees, contractors and visitors, and implement updates when needed.

Key Skills & Knowledge

Experience from within a distribution business serving multiple retailers.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
People management skills, including the ability to inspire, lead and motivate others, delegate and explain.
Planning and organisational skills.
Ability to demonstrate initiative and decisiveness.
IT skills, particularly database management and spreadsheets.
Problem-solving skills and an ability to work on a tactical and strategic level.
The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
