Rotherham Council is on an exciting journey to transform Adult Social Care. Our aim is to ensure every adult in our community can maximise their independence and live a safe, healthy, and fulfilling life. Guided by our One Rotherham Values Caring, Honest and Proud we are committed to delivering high‑quality, person‑centred support in everything we do.
About Shared Lives
Everyone deserves the opportunity to choose who they spend time with and to live a life that reflects what matters to them. Shared Lives helps people build meaningful relationships, stay connected with their community, and enjoy ordinary life experiences in safe, supportive family environments.
Shared Lives offers a unique and flexible alternative to traditional care or accommodation. In a Shared Lives arrangement, adults who need support live with, or regularly visit, approved Shared Lives Carers ordinary individuals, couples, or families within the community. Together, they share day‑to‑day activities, home life, and experiences that promote independence, wellbeing, and a real sense of belonging.
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and values driven Social Worker to join our small, experienced, and highly committed Shared Lives team based in Rotherham. This vacancy has arisen following the retirement of a longstanding team member, and it comes at an exciting time as we continue to grow and develop our offer.
As a Social Worker in Shared Lives, you will:
Recruit, assess, and train Shared Lives Carers
Match people who want to use Shared Lives with suitable Carers
Provide ongoing support, supervision, and quality monitoring of Shared Lives arrangements
Contribute to service development and continuous improvement within the scheme
Build strong, positive relationships with adults, carers, families, and partners across Adult Social Care
This is a rewarding role with variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day.
