Summary

Job Details

The purpose of the role is to support the casework of Julie Minns MP by providing information, advice and support to constituents on a variety of issues.

Caseworkers play an important role in an MP's office, supporting the MP to ensure that constituents' concerns are heard and addressed. You will be liaising with Government departments, local councils, the voluntary sector and a range of other bodies.

The position is full-time (37.5 hours a week). You will be working in the Carlisle constituency office.

Key responsibilities

Assist surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate

Attend constituency meetings as appropriate

Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face. Ongoing communication may be required

Draft responses to constituents

Follow up on social media queries and comments as required

Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation

Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately

Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases

Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken

Responsible for setting up new cases on Caseworker

Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act

There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally

Desirable

Familiarity with Caseworker software or database software

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO).
