Summary
To assist in the day to day running of the Acute Audiology Service. To be responsible for assessing, reviewing and assimilating audiological, relevant medical and other information when formulating optimal patient diagnostic and management plans, taking into account current evidence based practice and latest research findings.To undertake simple and more complex test procedures in all cases, with or without supervision, as appropriate. The Band 6 posts will have the responsibility for various aspects of the more specialist work, including providing a joint care programme for patients with more complex needs and/or tinnitus, to deliver deaf awareness / communication training and to be responsible for those patients who are transferring from the Childrens to the Adult Hearing Services. These responsibilities will be shared between the Band 6 posts. To liaise closely with other specialist clinical technical, therapy, medical and nursing staff as required to ensure the best possible standard of patient care. To make appropriate onward referrals and to order other investigative tests when required, e.g. MRIs. The service is based at Croydon University Hospital and at outreach clinics at Purley Memorial Hospital.
