At Mitie we bring out the best in places. Unlocking their potential so that everyone looks forward to using them and can do their best work in them. From offices and shopping centres to hospitals and airports, we create better places for the communities we serve to thrive.

We're looking for an Electrical Shift Engineer to join a dedicated estates team based within a busy NHS hospital environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified electrician to develop their career within healthcare FM, with clear pathways to becoming a Site Authorised Person for LV or HV systems — a role that attracts an additional paid allowance. You will play a critical part in keeping vital hospital infrastructure safe, operational, and compliant — work that directly supports patient care and safety every single day.

Role Responsibilities:

-Working as part of a shift-based estates team, your primary focus will be the delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the hospital site, ensuring all electrical systems and equipment remain safe and fully operational at all times.

-You will be responsible for ensuring PPM tasks are completed on schedule and to the required standard, promptly responding to reactive callouts, and applying strong fault-finding skills to diagnose and resolve electrical defects efficiently.

-Where faults cannot be immediately resolved, you will ensure they are clearly reported and escalated through the appropriate channels.

-All work will be accurately recorded on both paper worksheets and computer-based systems in line with company requirements.

-Day-to-day you can expect to be involved in maintaining critical hospital systems including standby power sources, emergency lighting, security installations, induction loops, and nurse call systems — ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation and the MITIE Business Management System throughout.

What we're looking for:

You will hold a City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 qualification (or equivalent) and have a working knowledge of IEE 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. Experience in a similar building services, FM, or estates maintenance role is highly desirable, and any previous exposure to a healthcare or other critical environment will be a distinct advantage.Beyond your technical credentials, you'll be a confident fault-finder who takes a methodical, proactive approach to problem solving. You'll be comfortable managing your own workload across a shift, maintaining accurate records, and working to the high standards expected in a clinical environment.

Why Apply?

This role offers genuine long-term prospects. Ambitious engineers are actively supported to develop into Authorised Person status for LV and/or HV systems, which comes with a paid responsibility allowance on top of your base salary.

Working within a hospital environment also brings the satisfaction of knowing your skills are contributing to something that genuinely matters.

What we offer you:

-Access to a virtual GP for you and your household

-Financial wellbeing support via Salary Finance - early pay access and competitive loans

-Flexible benefits via Choices - extra holidays, dental cover, tech discounts and more
