The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is seeking a Management Accounting Manager to join its Strategic Finance team within Corporate Services. The MCA plays a vital role in maritime safety, environmental protection, and emergency response across the UK. Our Finance function manages a £500m budget, ensuring resources are deployed efficiently and deliver value for money. As part of the Management Accounting team, you’ll lead three direct reports, oversee month-end processes, and provide consolidated financial reporting for senior decision-makers. Working closely with Finance Business Partners, you’ll deliver insightful analysis and support strategic planning, helping the MCA achieve its mission.

As a Management Accounting Manager, you will lead a small team to deliver accurate financial reporting and insightful analysis. You’ll take ownership of month-end processes, consolidate directorate-level reports, and provide assurance on financial data integrity. Working closely with Finance Business Partners, you’ll influence decision-making and support strategic planning, ensuring the MCA’s £500m budget is managed effectively.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Lead and manage the Management Accounting team.
  • Oversee month-end processes and reporting.
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reports.
  • Consolidate directorate-level reports for MCA and Department for Transport (DfT).
  • Ensure integrity of financial data and resolve queries.
  • Provide analysis, variance commentary, and insights.
  • Advise on accounting treatment for complex transactions.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the Agency.
