Your new company
A leading global insurer (name anonymised) is seeking an International Casualty Assistant Underwriter to join their London-based team. This role offers strong development opportunities and the chance to support a respected underwriting function within a dynamic international environment.
Your new role
As an International Casualty Assistant Underwriter, you will support the underwriting team by helping prepare quotes, binding requests, and policy documentation for both new and renewal business. You will assist with collecting and analysing risk information during the pre-underwriting process and ensure that all details are accurately recorded within underwriting systems. You will interact with brokers and internal teams, responding to queries and helping coordinate activity with global network partners to maintain high service standards.
You will ensure that compliance requirements such as sanctions checks are met, support the placement of reinsurance as needed, and keep on top of administrative tasks including endorsement processing and aged debt monitoring. You will also contribute to portfolio management by assisting with the tracking of casualty rate changes and the preparation of management information reports.
What you'll need to succeed
You should bring experience from an insurance environment such as underwriting support, account handling, or a broking or BBU technician role. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role requires regular interaction with internal colleagues and external brokers. You will need excellent attention to detail and confidence working with data and documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is important, along with the ability to learn underwriting systems. A strong academic background or equivalent professional experience will support your success in this position, together with a proactive mindset and a desire to develop towards underwriting responsibilities.
What you'll get in return
You will gain exposure to a diverse international casualty portfolio and have the opportunity to build your skills under the guidance of experienced underwriters. The company offers a competitive salary and benefits package, hybrid working arrangements, and strong prospects for career progression within the wider organisation.
