Summary
Rate of pay: £14.24/hour
Hours: 25 hours – with opportunities for flexible additional hours. Job is based in Seafield, West Lothian.
Autistic young non-binary (they/them) adult who loves getting out and about, spending time with animals, doing creative activities, music, and just generally having fun, is looking for a personal assistant to help with some of the challenges that they face due to current health conditions and disabilities.
Looking for some assistance with personal care, medication, getting around (including use of a wheelchair), help around the house (including light domestic care) and support to engage in activities at home and in the community including attending college one day a week.
We are looking for someone who is patient, understanding and reliable. It’s important that the personal assistant is calm but also has fun. We need someone who is able to build a trusting and consistent relationship with appropriate boundaries and respect their communication preferences and sensory needs at all times.
We already have carers that come in the morning and night time to help me get out of bed and ready for bed. This role would be covering the time in between those visits.
Notes/Essential Qualities:
Must be a driver and hold a valid clean driving licence
Must be comfortable around pets/animals
Hoist training, medication training and moving and handling training are preferable but can be provided.
Must be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme or willing to join.
Due to communication needs, a proficiency in English/communication skills are required.
Autism awareness, seizure training, catheter care and understanding of disability are desirable but will be provided
Lived experience of neurodivergence or experience working collaboratively with neurodivergent families preferred.
* WE DO NOT PROVIDE SPONSORSHIP *
The post will be offered based on the completion of paid trial shift(s), this will be confirmed at interview.
