Summary
Weighbridge Operative
Location: Bishop Middleham Quarry, DL17 9EB
Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week
Salary: £25,625 - £35,500 (depending on overtime worked)
Benefits:
Overtime paid at time and a half beyond 8 hours per day
Time and a half for Saturday work, and double time for Sunday work

Role Overview
The Weighbridge Operative is responsible for accurately weighing vehicles, checking essential documentation, supporting site safety, and helping maintain smooth traffic flow. This role is central to ensuring compliance, efficiency, and excellent customer service at Bishop Middleham Quarry.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Weighing & Customer Processing
Weigh vehicles in and out and ensure all loads are recorded accurately.
Allocate transactions to the correct customer account or take payment for cash customers.
Liaise with credit control when customers are in breach of credit terms to confirm whether they can tip or collect.
Site Safety & Rule Compliance
Ensure all drivers and visitors follow site rules as far as practicable.
Check that customers are wearing the required PPE before entering operational areas.
Documentation & Legal Requirements
Ensure each load has the correct Duty of Care/Waste Transfer Note or that an Annual Duty of Care Ticket is in place.
Obtain and record Waste Carrier Licences in the weighbridge software.
Check that incoming materials match the description on the documentation and ensure customers are billed correctly according to site pricing.
Skills & Experience
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Confident communication skills with customers and colleagues.
Ability to follow procedures and uphold site rules.
Basic IT skills for using weighbridge systems.
Experience in waste, quarrying, transport, or industrial environments is helpful but not essential.
