Summary
Cabinet Office Finance is responsible for all aspects of the Cabinet Office’s finances, including business and financial planning, performance reporting, in-year financial management, financial accounting, management of Parliamentary Supply, and production of the Cabinet Office’s annual accounts.

Job description
This role sits within the finance team supporting Cabinet Office Digital, the centre of digital and data activity within the Cabinet Office. As deputy to the Head of Finance, you will be central to the financial management and strategic planning of the Cabinet Office’s digital and technology estate. You will facilitate the delivery of high-quality, value-for-money digital services by providing expert financial advice and rigorous challenge to technology leads and project managers.
You will work with the Head of Finance to direct the workflow and professional development of a team of management accountants and finance technicians. Your role is a blend of high-level stakeholder influence and hands-on delivery, ensuring that our financial processes are not just maintained, but actively transformed to meet the demands of a modern digital estate.
Key Deliverables:
Deputy to the Head of Finance, overseeing the day-to-day outputs of the management accounting team to ensure high-quality financial support for the digital function.
Coordination of in year and future year planning processes, working closely with colleagues to understand project, programme and recruitment activities.
Oversight of month end and year end processes, including audit processes.
Provide accurate, informative and timely finance reports to the senior leadership team.
Provide professional insight and rigorous challenge to senior digital leads, acting as a trusted advisor on business cases and high-risk programmes.
Providing complex analysis to support key decision making.
Managing, coordinating and delivering specific business improvement initiatives, including establishing robust recharging processes.
Person specification
Essential Criteria
Qualifications: CCAB (or equivalent) fully qualified, or part qualified with experience delivering in a similar role.
Proven track record in leading and supporting finance, commercial and business operations activity.
Strong data and analytical skills, with an ability to translate complex technical information for non-specialist audiences.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders.
Ability to communicate effectively and influence at all levels, both orally and in writing.
Ability to develop solutions to complex problems concisely, compellingly and in a way that is accessible to non-specialists.
Excellent prioritisation skills and the ability to manage a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment.
Experience of leading, managing and developing a team.
Additional information:
Cabinet Office policy is that a minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. For some roles, due to their nature and the business need, this may be up to 100%. Requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.
