Summary

Thorn Baker have the exciting opportunity to recruit for a Toolmaker for a well known reputable company in Mansfield.

About the Company

Our client is a highly respected engineering business operating within the tool making and mould/die sector. With advanced in-house CNC and EDM capabilities, they manufacture, maintain, and repair high-precision tooling to exacting standards. Their reputation is built on technical expertise, quality craftsmanship, and meticulous attention to detail.

The Role

This is a true tool making position offering varied, hands-on work. As a Toolmaker, you will be responsible for the build, assembly, fitting, and maintenance of complex tooling, ensuring all tools perform reliably and meet strict quality requirements.

About the Role

• £44,033.60 - £50,694.80 starting salary
• Permanent vacancy
• Night shifts - working 4x 11 hour shifts

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, fit, and prove tooling components to specification
• Working on Injection Moulding & Die Casting Tools
• Carry out tool repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance
• Perform hand fitting, spotting, bench work, and precision alignment
• Diagnose tooling faults and implement effective corrective actions
• Collaborate closely with CNC and EDM departments
• Inspect and measure critical features to ensure accuracy and compliance

About You

• Time-served Toolmaker or strong background in precision engineering
• Experience with mould tools, die tools, or high-precision tooling
• Excellent fitting, bench, and problem-solving skills
• Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Quality-focused with a keen eye for detail
