Summary
Provide clinical nursing leadership, guidance and support across the college workforce, ensuring professional knowledge and skills remain current and evidence-based. Supervise, mentor and develop junior staff, ensuring appropriate oversight, safe practice and professional development. Ensure clinical practice aligns with the college Quality Improvement Plan and service objectives. Oversee assessment and care delivery for students with complex needs, ensuring appropriate staff allocation. Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of training for delegated health tasks, including competency assessment, including action plans where appropriate, ensuring all staff receive appropriate induction, mandatory training and role-specific clinical training to meet standards and legal requirements. Take overall responsibility for students physical, emotional and social wellbeing. Develop, implement and review holistic, person-centred care plans incorporating student views and wishes. Promote student independence, dignity, choice and high standards of care. Ensure compliance with health and safety, infection prevention and control, and relevant legislation. Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with organisational policy. Contribute to clinical governance, quality assurance, audits and service improvement. Undertake essential nursing duties including medication administration and other clinical interventions, supporting training and service delivery. Work with College Managers to ensure Care Leaders oversee and monitor medicine administration systems effectively and in accordance with CQC and legal requirements. Maintain accurate clinical records, reporting systems, audits and action plans. Communicate effectively with students, families, professionals and multidisciplinary teams. Respond to incidents, lead investigations and implement learning to improve practice. Participate in on-call clinical escalation and multidisciplinary meetings as required. Ensure staff receive appropriate induction, mandatory and role-specific clinical training. Contribute to EHCP processes, pre-entry assessments, review reports and support senior leadership as required.
