Summary
Job Purpose To provide a professional, efficient, and welcoming reception service to patients and visitors of the practice. The Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and plays a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice, ensuring high standards of customer service, confidentiality, and administrative support. Key ResponsibilitiesReception & Patient Services Greet patients and visitors in a courteous, professional, and helpful manner. Respond to telephone calls promptly, handling enquiries efficiently and directing calls appropriately. Book, amend, and cancel patient appointments in line with practice protocols. Register new patients and update patient records accurately. Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice procedures. Signpost patients to appropriate services where necessary. Administrative Duties Maintain accurate patient records and ensure information is recorded correctly on the clinical system. Scan, file, and manage incoming and outgoing correspondence. Handle incoming and outgoing mail. Support clinicians and management with administrative tasks as required. Confidentiality & Compliance Maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GDPR and NHS guidelines. Follow practice policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements. Report any safeguarding or significant concerns to the appropriate person. Teamwork & Communication Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and administrative staff. Contribute to team meetings and training sessions. Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
