Different Mindsets Need Different Maths. Could you be the solution?
Randstad Education is looking for a Maths Teacher who understands that "one size fits all" never applies to the classroom. We are partnering with a dedicated SEN School in Colchester that needs an educator who can look past the numbers and see the individual student.
School Overview:
This is a highly respected, over-subscribed 11-16 academy in Colchester known for its exemplary student behavior and "Outstanding" pastoral care. Rooted in a faith-led ethos of "Prayer and Work," it offers a calm, focused, and high-achieving environment where both staff and students are empowered to flourish within a close-knit, inclusive community.
The Role
-
Contract: Full-time - Term time only
-
Location: Colchester
-
Pay Rate: Competitive pay rate
As a Mathematics Teacher, you will join a department that prides itself on academic rigour and innovation. You will use modern tools-including interactive platforms like Sparx Maths-to deliver a curriculum that builds deep conceptual understanding. Whether you are helping Year 7s master the basics or guiding Year 11s through their higher-tier GCSEs, you will be part of a team that consistently achieves strong "Basics" results and inspires students to see the real-world value of Mathematics.
Your Responsibilities
-
Think Outside the Box: Turn abstract algebra into practical life skills (budgeting, time-management, spatial awareness).
-
Build Resilience: Support students with SEMH, ASD, or learning difficulties to overcome "maths anxiety."
-
Be the Constant: Provide a stable, structured, and empathetic environment where students feel safe to make mistakes.
-
Collaborate: Work alongside therapists and support staff to calculate the best path forward for every child.
Desired Qualities
-
You have QTS and a knack for simplifying the complex.
-
You don't just teach a curriculum; you teach a person.
-
You are resilient, calm under pressure, and a natural "pattern-finder" for student behaviour.
-
You want small class sizes where you can actually make a measurable difference.
Benefits:
-
Pay: Competitive daily rates (Long-term).
- Career Progression : Opportunities to online CPD courses to enhance your skills
-
Support: Weekly pay and a dedicated consultant at Randstad to manage your transition.
-
Referral bonus: £300 shopping voucher upon successful referral through Refer-a-Friend scheme.
