A creative and community‑focused 2‑form entry primary school in Kensal Rise is looking for an enthusiastic Music Teacher to join their PPA team on a part‑time basis. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves whole‑class music teaching and is confident delivering engaging lessons from Year 1 to Year 6.
Teaching Environment
Music plays an important role in the school's curriculum, with a strong emphasis on singing, rhythm, performance and building children's confidence through creative expression. You'll be joining a supportive team who value high‑quality teaching and work collaboratively to ensure music is accessible, enjoyable and inclusive for all pupils.
Role Responsibilities
The role involves teaching music across KS1 and KS2 as part of the PPA timetable. Responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging whole‑class music lessons
- Teaching across Years 1-6 and adapting lessons to a range of abilities
- Developing pupils' musical skills in singing, rhythm, notation and performance
- Preparing classes for assemblies, concerts or school events where needed
- Maintaining a positive, well‑managed classroom environment
- Working closely with the PPA team and wider staff to ensure consistency and high standards
Essential Requirements
- Experience teaching whole‑class music in UK primary schools (not just peripatetic or small‑group teaching)
- A DBS on the Update Service
- Strong classroom management and confident delivery across KS1 and KS2
- A genuine passion for music education and inspiring young learners
- QTS is welcome but not essential if you have strong whole‑class teaching experience
Contract & Pay
- 3 days per week (Mon-Wed)
- Temp to perm
- Start ASAP or after Easter
- £145 per day
- Long‑term pay will align with the Main Teacher Pay Scale or Unqualified Teacher Scale, depending on QTS status
