We have seven modern theatres in Chelsea which includes three robotic theatres, and two theatres in Sutton. We cover a wide range of specialties, including Sarcoma and Melanoma, Upper and Lower GI, Plastics, Head and Neck, Gynaecology, Urology and Breast, using a wide range of surgical techniques. Our theatres anaesthetic team is trusted, skilled, hardworking and supportive, and we’re looking for a motivated and experienced anaesthetic lead who can demonstrate leadership qualities and a real interest in high quality perioperative care to join us
• To be a professional and clinical role model, leading and co-ordinating theatres and recovery in conjunction with the Matron. To co-ordinate, organise and take full responsibility and accountability for the daily management and organisation of theatres recovery services at Chelsea site; this involves managing a wide range of complex and sometimes conflicting priorities including staff management.
• As the clinical lead, perform all the tasks of an ODP/Theatre Nurse in recovery for adults, following all checks and procedures as laid down in National and Trust Theatre Policy. To demonstrate sound knowledge base of safe governance and practices in recovery.
• As a member of the recovery team to perform the tasks of recovery, to support staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team
• To be responsible for the safe use of complex theatre and recovery equipment with responsibility for ordering stock and non-stock supplies and arranging timely servicing of this equipment, both routine and urgent.
• To be responsible for the continuing specialist professional development and overall performance of all staff in Chelsea Theatres Recovery team.
• Provide specialist clinical advice Trust wide to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/ clients and relatives/ carers in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with the local and national targets.

• To provide sound clinical leadership and develop support mechanisms for sharing good practice within the Department and Trust wide
• Monitor the quality of clinical care and action audit information to achieve agreed standards and take the lead on customer care initiatives.
• Takes the lead in ensuring the provision of care is in accordance with the Trust’s policies and procedures.
• In conjunction with the staff team, to lead in developing implementing, evaluating and maintaining a Departmental ethos and a standard approach to the delivery of excellent patient centred care.
• To act as patient advocate in line with current guidance and to actively apply in depth knowledge of holistic/ socio-economic and cultural aspects of the care to clients within your specific speciality, acting as a role model and resource for patients, relatives and staff.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, actively seeking evidence based practice which will support clinical outcomes as appropriate. To ensure that weekly quality rounds are carried out with the Matron for Theatres.
• Ensure that all theatre documentation (including nursing & ODP) is maintained to the Trust standard (including electronic records) and implement clinical audit of records to measure and evaluate care planning.
• To be aware of and champion current evidence-based trends and developments in theatre practice and in the NHS and be responsible for taking the lead in the continuing professional development of departmental staff and self.
• To lead on the implementation of the Trust’s framework for Clinical Governance within the Ward or Department area.
