Start Date: ASAPThe Governing Body are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Family Engagement Officer to work as part of our team.
Perthcelyn Community Primary School is situated in Perthcelyn, Mountain Ash. We currently have 120 pupils on roll aged between 3 and 11 (including 18 pupils who access our two ASD Learning Support Classes). Our committed team works hard to nurture our pupils, and set high expectations for learning, well-being and behaviour. Central to everything we do, is a commitment to ensure that every day, we provide opportunities for every child to thrive, grow and succeed.Key Responsibilities
Develop and sustain effective partnerships with families, fostering positive relationships that promote engagement in all aspects of school life.
Provide early, targeted support to parents and carers, signposting external services where appropriate and assisting families in overcoming barriers to their child’s wellbeing, attendance, and learning.
Lead the strategic and operational delivery of attendance, including monitoring data, identifying patterns of concern, and working closely with families to improve attendance and punctuality.
Design and deliver family engagement activities, including workshops, events, and opportunities that strengthen home–school communication and promote parental involvement.
Work collaboratively with school leaders, teaching staff, and external agencies to support safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusive practice across the school community.
Contribute to the preparation and management of grant applications, ensuring that bids are well written, aligned with school priorities, and compliant with relevant guidance.
Maintain accurate documentation and data, including records of meetings, interventions, attendance actions, and family support undertaken.
Promote a culture of high expectations in relation to attendance, engagement, behaviour, and pupil wellbeing.In addition, the successful candidate will need to:
Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Have proven experience and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, or have worked within a community-focused role.
Have experience of multi-agency working.
Show initiative, be motivated, and have strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils.
Be a team player who works productively with colleagues.
Contribute to the wider life of the school.
