Summary
Job Title
Domestic Assistant
Hours: 20hrs per week, Flexible/negotiable, over 5 working days, evenings, Monday to Friday, across our services.
Job Purpose
To provide a professional, efficient and effective cleaning service that enhances the appearance of the home/service and maintains a clean, safe, and hygienic environment. Ensuring high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention to support the health, dignity, and wellbeing of the people we support, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
• Clean and sanitise bathrooms, kitchens and communal areas in line with infection control guidelines.
• Follow cleaning schedules and complete daily, weekly, and deep-clean tasks as assigned.
• Use appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with COSHH regulations.
• Safely dispose of clinical and non-clinical waste according to healthcare policies.
• Replenish supplies such as soap, hand towels, and toilet paper.
• Report maintenance issues, hazards, or low stock levels to management promptly.
• Support infection prevention measures, including outbreak cleaning procedures when required.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect peoples’ privacy and dignity at all times.
• Work collaboratively with care staff and management to ensure a safe and pleasant environment.
Skills & Experience
Must have:
• Previous cleaning experience (preferably in healthcare, care home, or similar environment).
• Understanding of hygiene standards and infection control procedures.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Good attention to detail.
• Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
Desirable:
• Some experience working in an environment with people with a learning disability.
• Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
• Basic understanding of safeguarding and health & safety requirements.
Qualifications
• A specific certificate in the safe use of chemical substances would be desirable.
• No specific professional training required.
