Summary
Our client based in Coleford are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading manufacturer who have been operation for more than 130 years.
You will work alongside a Senior Buyer maintaining strong relationships with suppliers in providing essential products and materials for the business. You will be expected to have previous buying experience, with good negotiation and communication skills, top time management and ability to maintain strong supplier relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Expedite due and overdue purchase orders to meet departmental KPIs and maintain accurate OTIF performance records.
- Update production schedules daily in line with goods received reports and communicate any supply issues.
- Raise and amend purchase orders across both direct and indirect spend, ensuring compliance with internal approval processes.
- Maintain supplier records, agreements and confidentiality documentation, while logging order acknowledgements and resolving invoice discrepancies promptly.
- Review and challenge supplier price increase proposals in line with company procedures and support structured supplier audits.
- Maintain up-to-date quotation files for standard items and negotiate improved pricing, carriage terms, payment terms and discounts.
- Agree delivery schedules, stocking arrangements and inventory controls to support business unit requirements and operational efficiency.
- Work with internal teams to drive supplier performance improvements and reduce quality defects.
- Review daily MRP outputs, update system lead times where required and escalate significant changes or risks to management.
- Attend departmental and production meetings to represent the purchasing function, deputise for senior colleagues when required, and support ad hoc projects and reporting activities.
Candidate Attributes:
- Previous buying/procurement experience
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

-Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects to deadlines.
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week (fully in-office)
