Role Overview

We are looking for a Chartered Valuation Surveyor interested in becoming a Technical Leader within the Regional Valuation Unit (East), to undertake complex and high profile Non Domestic Rating casework.

Our Technical Leaders provide technical advice to colleagues across the network. You will be a technical expert with a natural ability to coach and nurture colleagues undertaking professional qualifications. The role is essential to supporting our future surveying talent pipeline and providing valuable technical advice, leadership, and guidance to the Agency.

The role will primarily deal with NDR where there is a unit wide or cross unit impact due to, for example, reputational or financial risk.

We are eager to hear from experienced Valuation Surveyors with extensive rating experience having dealt with a broad range of property types across different valuation methodologies through to valuation tribunal.

Key responsibilities

  • To provide technical leadership, direction setting, guidance and support to caseworkers in the Regional Valuation Units.
  • Support the delivery of the Revaluation Programme.
  • Lead, motivate and inspire others to deliver results including sharing your professional knowledge to help others develop.
  • To set and maintain strategic overview of the framework for the work of team, including embedding VOA vision and values.
  • To offer advice or guidance on complex issues which cannot be resolved within the normal rules or precedents.
  • If appropriate to the role undertake selected casework where the outcome has a wider impact, setting frameworks or, where a high level of expertise is required, resolving the issues raised.
  • To provide expert witness and advocacy in complex litigation at VTE/VTW/UTLC and beyond.
  • To act as a Counsellor/Supervisor to colleagues undertaking profession qualifications.
