Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Warehouse Supervisor to lead operations at our Hatfield Depot. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-performing warehouse operations while developing and inspiring a capable team.

The Role
As Warehouse Supervisor, you will take full accountability for the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and exceptional service delivery to our customers. You will work closely with the Operations Manager to drive performance, optimise processes, and embed a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

• Maintain full compliance with health & safety legislation, company policies, and industry regulations.
• Promote and embed a strong safety culture across the depot.
• Ensure all staff are trained and consistently adhere to safe systems of work.
• Conduct and review risk assessments and implement corrective actions where required.

Operational Leadership & Management

• Take full accountability for all daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, loading, and dispatch.
• Ensure all processes are executed accurately, efficiently, and within required timelines.
• Deliver against organisational KPIs for productivity, quality, and accuracy.
• Work alongside the Operations Manager to develop and implement operational strategies, staffing plans, and space utilisation initiatives.

Team Leadership & Staff Development

• Lead, supervise, and inspire warehouse personnel, setting clear direction and performance expectations.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and regular feedback to drive high performance and engagement.
• Identify skills gaps and implement targeted training to enhance team capability, productivity, and compliance.

Process Control

• Ensure accurate management of all warehouse documentation, manifests, and records.
• Maintain full compliance with company procedures and audit requirements.
• Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions to maintain operational standards.
• Continuous Improvement & Performance Optimisation
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
• Develop actionable solutions and best practice initiatives.
• Present recommendations to the Operations Manager for approval and implementation.

Customer Engagement

• Act as a professional and knowledgeable point of contact for customers.
• Address queries and resolve operational issues promptly and effectively.
• Collaborate with planning and operations teams to ensure smooth coordination and timely fulfilment of customer requirements.

Equipment & Asset Management

• Oversee the safe operation and correct use of all warehouse equipment and assets.
• Conduct routine inspections and ensure compliance with operational standards.
• Report issues, damages, or faults and maintain accurate equipment records.

Reporting & Performance Review

• Prepare and present monthly warehouse performance reports to the Operations Manager.
• Report on KPIs including productivity, staffing levels, safety performance, operational challenges, equipment status, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Inductions & Onboarding

• Assist with and coordinate structured inductions for new drivers and warehouse staff.
• Deliver hands-on training covering vehicle and equipment use, safe systems of work, compliance standards, and reporting procedures.
• Monitor onboarding progress, conduct follow-up reviews, and address knowledge gaps.
• Act as a key point of contact during the onboarding period to ensure new starters are competent, confident, and aligned with company expectations.

About You
We are looking for a proactive, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Essential Skills & Experience:
• Proven experience in a warehouse supervisory or team leader role.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and health & safety legislation.
• Demonstrable experience managing KPIs and driving performance improvements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to prioritise, problem-solve, and make sound operational decisions under pressure.
• Competent in warehouse systems and reporting tools.

Desirable:
• Experience within a transport or time-critical logistics environment.
• IOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification.
