Summary
Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities Participate in the initial assessment and management of patients, supervising more junior members of the team. To lead inpatient ward rounds to ensure the on-going clinical management of patients is appropriate. To support the discharge of patients, to a place of safety, in a timely manner. Participate in or lead the acute take, to provide senior clinical decisions, with the support of consultant clinicians. Contribute to the Medical Emergency Team (MET). Lead cardiac arrest calls. Contribute to GIM/medical speciality clinics. Liaise with other members of the clinical team and other specialties. Advise junior trainees and ANPs about management of patients. Develop skills in managing the ward to avoid unnecessary patient delays and maintain good clinical care to all patients. Professional Responsibilities To participate in clinical audit and or quality improvement (QI) project. To participate in continuing professional development. Educational supervision will be provided. To maintain a portfolio of training. To comply with Trust policies and procedures, have (and maintain) GMC registration /licensing. Administrative Responsibilities To ensure good documentation and record keeping To ensure all admin tasks including are complete within local Trust targets. Teaching & Training Responsibilities To attend educational opportunities where appropriate. To maintain a portfolio of training. To support medical & non-medical students within the ward area. Engage actively in teaching others as the work schedule allows. Research & Audit Responsibilities To be involved in departmental audit/research/QIPs.
